Law Enforcement Proficiency Awards
Community Service
Acknowledges 100 hours of community service, including crowd control, traffic control, parking service, community events, etc. Service must be preapproved and logged by the Advisor.
Crime Prevention
Includes the basic 8 hours of crime prevention instruction as well as an additional 8 hours of training in areas such as neighborhood watch, home security survey, and bicycle registration. The award is presented to Explorers who participate in at least three departmental crime prevention projects with a total of 25 hours of activity.
Law Enforcement Service
Includes assistance to the department in areas such as records, communications, data processing, etc. It recognizes an accumulation of 100 hours of service.
Emergency Preparedness
Certifies that the Explorer has received training in advanced first aid and CPR; has received training in how the post would assist in a disaster, such as flood, tornado, hurricane, etc.; and has participated in at least one civil defense or community wide disaster training excercise.
Firearms Training
Includes 8 hours of firearms safety training and matches the guidlines stated in the NRA/Law Enforcement
Explorer Firearms Certification Program. This recognition s the NRA Explorer Marksmanship bar (not a Learning for Life item) NRA membership is not required.
Tenure
Awarded to those Explorers who complete one year of satisfactory service to the post.
Perfect Attendance
Recognizes attendance at each scheduled meeting of the post during the preceding year.
Drug Abuse Prevention
Acknowledges proficiency in drug abuse prevention traning and service. Requires 6 hours of advanced traning outlined in Drug Abuse Prevention for Explorers, and 50 hours of service in at least 2 diffrent drug abuse prevention projects.
National Law Enforcement Explorer Confrence Bar
Presented to Explorers who attend a national Law Enforcement Explorer conference.
National Law Enforcement Explorer Academy
Presented to explorers selected to attend a National Law Enforcement Explorer Academy
Eagle or Gold Award Recognition
May be worn by an Explorer who has achieved the Boy Scouts of America or Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. highest award and honor.
Explorer of the Year
Each post will be encouraged to recognize one Explorer each year. This Explorer should be selected on the basis of dependability, attitude, attendance, and contributions to the post, department, and community. Explorers of the Year are obviously recognized for their outstanding performances and personal attributes.
Air Assault Badge
The Air Assault wings are awarded to Explorer's that have successfully completed the US Army Explorer Challenge. It is a 5-Day course on Rappelling, Conditioning Course, and Confidence Course.
Basic Swat Badge (Silver)
The Basic Swat Badge is awarded to explorers who complete the 48hr Basic Course. It is a 3-Day event encompassing classroom, range qualification with mulitple weapons systems, tactics training, shield training, breech training and sniper tactics. This culminates into a 24hr On-Call Status where they apply what they have learned.
Basic Swat Badge (2nd Award-Gold)
The 2nd award Basic Swat Badge is awarded to Explorers who complete the 2nd phase of the 48hr basic course. It incorperates 5 different operational training settings and scenarios.
Advanced Swat Badge (Silver)
The Advanced Swat Badge is awarded to explorers who complete the 48hr Advanced Course. It is a 3-Day event encompassing classroom, tactics training, team deployment strategies, resource management and planning, operation planning and execution. This culminates in a 24hr On Call Excersize that every explorer prepares for, executes and is critiqued as a team leader. This course is designed to not only test explorers physically, but mentally as well.
Advanced Swat Badge (2nd Award-Gold)
The 2nd award Advanced Swat Badge is awarded to Explorers who complete the 2nd phase of our 48hr Advanced Course. It incorperates 5 different operational training settings and scenarios. Additionally they must successfully negotiate the obstical course.
Basic Marksman (Sniper) Course Award
The Basic Marksman Award is awarded to Explorers who complete the 24 hr course. This course provides instruction in Rifle Engineering, Sniper History, Climate Considerations, Elevation and Windage Calculations, Sniper Physiology, Cranial Physiology, Memorization, Data Book composition, "Live-Fire" excersize and Scenario Based Excersize. Qualification is 70% average on all Exams, Weapons qualification with 3hits, inside of an inch on the Qualification target and 90% aquisition of all inteligence in the practical excersize.
Basic Marksman (Sniper) Course 2nd Award
The Basic Marksman-2nd Award is awarded to Explorers who complete the 2nd phase of the 24 hr Basic Course. This course caveates the first course with 6hrs of range time, qualification shoot that is in real-time that is intel-based/incident based and will require a minimum of 4 adjustments during the timed event, Sniper/Counter Sniper excersize, and Cammo/Concealment excersize. Qualification is a minimum of 90% on all target qualification (3rd's in an inch, in the Olefactory Nervous System), 100% Accuracy and completness of Data Books, 100% accuracy on all sighting adjustments requiered during the 'Live-Fire" excersize and 100% "GO" on the Sniper/Counter Sniper Excersize.
